Vita Biosa
Here you will find information about Vita Biosa
What is Vita Biosa?
Vita Biosa is an organic drink fermented with cultures of bifido and lactic acid bacteria and an extract from 19 herbs. Vita Biosa is a vegan product that is unpasteurized and free from dairy, sugar, and gluten.
Which herbs is Vita Biosa fermented with?
Vita Biosa is fermented with the following 19 herbs: angelica root, aniseed, basil, camomile, chervil, dill, elderflower, fennel seed, fenugreek seed, ginger, juniper berry, liquorice root, nettle, oregano, parsley, peppermint, rosemary, sage, thyme.
Which bacteria is Vita Biosa fermented with?
Vita Biosa is fermented with 8 bifido and lactic acid bacteria: Bifidobacterium lactis, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactococcus lactis, Streptococcus thermophilus.
Does Vita Biosa contain milk?
No. Vita Biosa contains lactic acid bacteria, which are often associated with dairy products, especially yogurt. They are called lactic acid bacteria because they convert carbohydrates into lactic acid. However, they have nothing to do with milk itself, so Vita Biosa can be consumed by individuals with milk allergies and lactose intolerance.
Does Vita Biosa contain gluten?
No, none of the ingredients in Vita Biosa contain gluten, and can be consumed by anyone with gluten allergies.
Does Vita Biosa contain sugar?
No, as a finished product, Vita Biosa is free of sugar. We use organic molasses in the fermentation process, but during this process, the lactic acid bacteria convert the sugar content into organic acids, which is why Vita Biosa is sugar-free by the time we bottle the product.
Does Vita Biosa contain liquorice?
Yes, all our variants contain extract from liquorice root. However, the amount of liquorice root extract varies from variant to variant, but in all of them, the content is very low. The liquorice content is lowest in Vita Biosa Rosehip and highest in Vita Biosa Berry. In Vita Biosa Original and Vita Biosa Ginger, there is a total of 0.5% herbal extract, of which liquorice root makes up 9%, which corresponds to 0.045% liquorice root in Vita Biosa Original or Vita Biosa Ginger. In a daily dose of 30 mL, this amounts to 0.014 mL of liquorice root. So, it’s a relatively small amount, but if your blood pressure is very sensitive, we recommend consulting your doctor. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration advises adults not to consume more than 50 g of liquorice daily (the limit for children is 25 g). For comparison, it would take a daily intake of 111 liters of Vita Biosa Original or Vita Biosa Ginger to reach 50 g of liquorice.
What are lactic acid bacteria?
Lactic acid bacteria are defined as a group of live microorganisms, such as lactobacillus and bifidobacteria, which produce organic acids.
What are organic acids?
Organic acids, also known as 'Postbiotics', have a biological origin and are naturally found in the intestines where they are formed by, for example, probiotic gut bacteria. In Vita Biosa, organic acids are present in the form of lactic acid, acetic acid and other metabolites. These organic acids are contributing to a number of vital health functions, and also making the product self-preserving. Vita Biosa is therefore entirely free of preservatives.
Is Vita Biosa vegan?
Yes. All of our Vita Biosa variants are registered with the Vegan Society, the world's oldest vegan organization. This is your guarantee that our products are completely free from animal ingredients.
Is Vita Biosa certified organic?
Yes! All of our Vita Biosa variants are certified organic.
What is fermentation?
Fermentation with lactic acid bacteria is a process where the lactic acid bacteria convert substances like molasses into lactic acid and acetic acid.
When should I drink Vita Biosa?
Vita Biosa can be consumed at any time, and preferably several times a day. Some people prefer to drink Vita Biosa on an empty stomach, while others prefer to drink it with meals.
Should I drink Vita Biosa straight or mixed?
You can drink Vita Biosa straight or enjoy your daily shot mixed with water, juice, or smoothies. Just make sure to mix it into your drink right before consuming it.
Can I drink Vita Biosa while on antibiotics?
Antibiotics work by killing bacteria, which can also affect the lactic acid bacteria in Vita Biosa. However, antibiotics do not impact the content of organic acids and herbal extracts.
Can I drink too much Vita Biosa?
We recommend drinking 30 mL at a time, but if you find yourself wanting more, it's perfectly fine to have a little extra.
Is it normal for Vita Biosa to develop excess pressure?
Yes, it is perfectly normal for Vita Biosa to occasionally develop excess pressure. You might notice this if the bottle feels hard or bulging before opening, and the drink may taste slightly fizzy. This is not a sign of decreased quality.
Is Vita Biosa unpasteurized?
Yes. Vita Biosa is naturally self-preserving. During the fermentation process the bacteria produce awesome bi-products and metabolites, among which are organic acids (including lactic acid and acetic acid). The organic acids not only give the product its unique and acidic taste but also create a low pH that prevents the growth of harmful bacteria. Therefore, pasteurizing Vita Biosa is unnecessary.
